PHILOSOPHY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

We believe in professionalism and delivering excellence in our work.  We operate within a self-imposed Code of Professional Ethics, which ensures integrity and avoids conflicts of professional interest.  DTA has a long and accomplished track record of completing often long, complex and demanding projects, on time and on budget.  We have a reputation for maintaining a consistent, highly respected, forefront position in cutting edge research and professional advisory services to a quality client base, so that central government, statutory agencies, local authorities and national conservation bodies, return frequently to renew contracts and commission further work.  Our client base is second to none for a consultancy of our size and in our field.

We are accountable to the respective codes of professional conduct of several professional institutes, including the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) the Landscape Institute (LI); and the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).  We are also Assessor Members of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

Ethical and Sustainable Business Trading

The Practice also operates in accordance with an Environmental Policy Statement, which seeks to minimise the impact of our business on the environment and to add value to the environmental work that we do. This policy is complemented by our Ethical and Sustainable Business Trading Policy

Quality Management

The Practice was one of the first independent planning / environmental consultancies to achieve registration of accreditation to BS:5750 Part 1. The Practice's Quality Management System (QMS) was formally registered to British and International Standards on 30 June 1993. DTA achieved an outstanding record of compliance, verified by National Quality Assurance auditors, in 15 successive annual external audits. In 2003, the Practice successfully upgraded its QMS to meet the revised standards of ISO 9001:2000. In 2008 the Practice decided that maintaining a registered system to meet ISO 9001:2000 was no longer the best way to continue to improve a QMS that met our long-term commitment to providing a service of high quality and good value for money. We therefore deregistered in order to be able to adapt and improve our system to meet the needs of the Practice and our clients. Information about our QMS is available to clients. Click here to see our Quality Policy Statement.

Other Policies

We operate other policies, all of which contribute to our ideals. These are:

Equal Opportunities Policy
Smoke-free Workplace Policy
Health and Safety Policy Statement

All our policies are regularly reviewed to see whether amendments are necessary.
