WHAT WE DO

Our work is widely respected.  It is recognised as being influential in our professional spheres and in setting standards of good practice.

In the fields of urban, rural and marine spatial planning, and in ecological and landscape planning and management, we carry out the following types of work:
  • Advisory Services for central government departments, statutory agencies, national park and local authorities, non-governmental organisations including utility and other major companies

  • Assessments, preparation or undertaking expert review of:

    • Habitats Regulations (Appropriate) Assessments (HRA) of plans and projects, including some of the most complex undertaken in the UK

    • Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) of a wide variety of infrastructure and many other types of projects

    • Strategic Environmental Appraisal / Sustainability Appraisal (SEA/SA) of plans

    • Ecological Impact Assessment and developing avoidance, mitigation, compensatory and other off-setting measures

  • Research for central and local government and non-governmental organisations

  • Training: providing bespoke or contributing to other training courses, seminars, conferences and workshops

  • Other services:

    • Providing expert witness evidence at public inquiries, tribunals and court hearings

    • Writing authoritative guidance on EIA, SEA/SA and HRA

    • Monitoring best practice and case work on EIA, SEA/SA and HRA
